Take a look at the list on the Riding Diary! The Fun Rides are shown in date order - just click Search Fun Rides to find out more!

Interested in taking part in a Fun Ride but are not sure what to expect

Take a look at the Rides listed on the Riding Diary - many have schedules or web-links where you can find out more. Horse Fun Rides can vary in length from 8 miles to 15 miles or more. The numbers of riders taking part can also vary a lot - some of the big Sponsored Charity Horse Rides raise thousands of pounds for charity each year and have hundreds of riders taking part

At the other end of the scale there are much smaller rides that will often be much quieter with fewer riders and horses. Often a Fun Ride will have several routes available of different lengths. And many will have jumps - but these are usually optional!

A Tough Choice

I've been looking after Lupin for a while now and we've had time to get to know each other a little better.

Lupin is a real sweetie; a bit of a twit at times, but a sweetie all the same, however I think that he is really a little too much for me just at the moment.

As you know I want to get back to regular riding (Benjamin is 5 and I last rode when I was pregnant!) but dear lovely Lupin is not the horse for me at this stage.

With Hannah away at University, Lupin is getting very little work and it is sad to see this lively and capable creature not being ridden and jumped (he loves jumping) anywhere near enough.

So I've been thinking hard about what to do next.

The choices are:

Sell Lupin and buy another horse better suited to my needs.
Keep Lupin and buy another horse etc
Put Lupin out on loan and buy another horse
Turn Lupin away until I can feel confident enough to ride him

Hannah and I are so fond of Lou, he's a wonderful fellow and it would break our hearts to see him go, so whatever we decide this is going to be a tough choice.

So...the day has finally arrived...

After (another!) sleepless night I have taken over looking after our horse Lupin. Surely that cannot be so bad I hear you say. But for me the prospect is rather (how shall I put this) terrifying. Why? Well I have been talking about starting to ride again for a quite a while. Usually from the comfort of the sofa, or in front of my computer screen. It was something that I could seemingly put off indefinately, bemoaning the lack of time and of course money that was preventing me riding again.

So how come I am now being forced from my comfort zone?

Welcome to the Riding diary Blog

Well it had to happen didn't it?
